Is the media blamed for the unhealthy paparazzi culture.

No. The media should not be blamed for the unhealthy paparazzi culture. The recently case of Rupert Mudoch phone scandal is a typical example of what happens when media looks for interesting news to attract customers. Actually, i think that it is the reader's fault. If the reader have a healthier mindset, the media would not need to do so much just to please the public. Besides, the media needs to survive in the media world and they have a lot of competition. I am not trying to say that the media did the right thing by hacking into other's phone just to get interesting news, in fact, what they are doing is absolutely wrong. The unhealthiness in the paparazzi culture is a chain effect from other paparazzi. When a certain media uses some certain unhealthy method to attract customers, the other media will follow suit and the culture will spread, spreading the "virus".

Is true justice and achieved at the end of the trail scene

Yes, true justice is achieved at the end of the trail scene, however, not mercy. At the end of the trail scene, Shylock is forced to give up all his fortune to Antonio for attempting to take his life, and Shylock is also forced to convert to Christianity, and all of these is according to law. besides, although Shylock signed a contract with Antonio on getting his pound of flesh, there is nothing written about taking his blood and so it is perfectly legal for Portia to take advantage of the mistake to attack Shylock. However, although true justice is given to Shylock, there is no mercy given. Although Portia knew about the fact that Shylock wanted revenge for the humiliation and disgrace Antonio gave him, she charged him mercilessly, taking all the evidence possible to land Shylock in a really bad situation. However, Antonio may have given Shylock some mercy by promising to give Shylock's fortune to Jessica after Shylock's death, however, it is Antonio's personal will and Shylock did not get any advantage, so true mercy is not really present.
P.S
There may be true justice given to Shylock, however, Portia is breaking some rules herself. In those days, women were not allowed into the court, and Portia broke the rule, thus making whether true justice is present variable.

Is money important in a relationship? In your opinion

It differs from people, religions and countries. In some countries, money is important in a relationship, especially India. The female side of the family have to pay an large amount of money to the male side for an marriage and this kind of arranged marriage is usually for the sake of money and will most likely not end happily for either of the couple. In Afghanistan, a nineteen year old girl had her ears and nose cut off by her husband and it is the result of an arranged mirage to settle a family rivalry. In my opinion, i feel like a relation only matters when there is love and when the main reason is for money, it is no longer considered as a relationship. Some parents still have the mindsets that their son of daughters should marry a rich person for a better life, however, a marriage without love is meaningless.

Evolution of war

As time changes and technology improves, war becomes different from what it used to be, however, it still exists for the reasons like more land domination, resources and the need to prove a country's power or defend its country. In a nutshell, wars are now fought with more powerful weapons, evolving from swords to guns. The war machines also evolved from wooden machines to tanks and aeroplanes. Even chemical are being used in war, and nuclear bombs are being created. The latest invention are mostly invented for the sake of war, such as the internet. Although war did change drastically over time, the damage and sorrow caused by it will never change no matter what age it is.

The soldier by Rupert Brooks

The poem above tells us about how much this soldier loves his country, England, and the young men in Singapore will have to serve in the national service, and personally, i think that the national service is very important. Singapore is a small and powerful country in economic, but having a strong economic doesn't mean that we are absolutely save. in order to protect ourselves, we will have to train Singaporeans to defend themselves and the countries in the time of crisis.

It is natural for the national service to be compulsory, have talents are not enough, we need an strong army too to keep Singapore safe in time of crisis or else these talents will be for nothing.

I do not think that I have the same sense of patriotism for Singapore as the sense of patriotism presented in the poem, as I am not planning to stay in Singapore for long.

War-a personal response

http://lalitkumar.in/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/biafra_albino_boy_don_mccullin.jpg

This picture is of the scene of Biafra, West Africa in 1969, during the World War 2. There are two African children in the picture and both of them and bone and skin. Both of them have skinny legs and arms, a big head and the child in the background has a really big stomach. This is the symptom of malnutrition and starvation. The boys must be really very poor to be unable to get enough food and clothes. The big stomach is possibly caused by eating some really unhealthy and unhygienic food. I cannot imagine how hungry they must be to resort to eating that kind of food and diseasing his stomach. I think they had not had a regular meal for a long time and this reduced their legs to what seemed like a bamboo stick. It is a really disheartening and sad sight. What worst than that is the fact that one of the boys is clutching onto a food can, which may either be his last meal or the container to keep the money he was begging for. According to their current state, I can understand how much they have suffered due to the war and they may not survive long unless medication and food is provided. War is terrible and the country must have drained its resources to fight the war, this picture clearly conveys the message of the effect of war and he sacrifices which must be made.

Dear: Mr. Doi,
I read your article about the misfortune of your wife and children on the link above. It is really unfortunate that the Earthquake struck , followed by other hard blows, such as the tsunami and nuclear explosion which crippled the country known to stand against the most number of the ruthless earthquake. It is really hard to imagine how powerful the earthquake is since it is able to destroy most of the buildings specially made to resist earthquakes. I sympathies for your wife and children and it is really unfortunate that they died, but you don't have to wallow in sadness. It can't be helped and there are others around you who suffered the same fate. I understand how hard it is to lose a loved one and how long it take for the wound to recover, but Japan is also in much chaos and also need healing. I have faith in Japan that it would recover and return to its beautiful old self and i hope that you can recover just as quickly.

Yours sincerely,
Guo Zili

final draft

I sat in my room, holding 3 cards which I decided to send to my three best friends of friendship day, thinking of them, it always dawned on me how important friends are. I am a Singaporean, who is currently in secondary school. I came from a neighbourhood primary school and made many friends there, and we are friends until now. This is the reason for our long lasting friendship. I still remember the days when I was not a good student as compared to others in subjects which required a lot of remembering, such as spelling and listening comprehension, that’s because I have amnesia, which is basically a illness which makes me forget things really easily, for instance, I forgot my bag at school, I forgot my laptop on bus, I even forgot about an English test and the results are not good. And thanks to that amnesia thing, I was considered the most “blur” student in class
All these happened before I met three of my best friends, Paranee and Shail, who are both Indian boy, and Wang Jia Xin. My three friends have many other friends who always topped the class, but they still preferred to help a D graded student like me to improve my results. They also topped the class often too. The teacher loved to scold Wang Jia Xin and the reason is his parents were too “kia su” which means scared of losing in Chinese dialect.  Whenever Wang Jia Xing’s academic results drops, his parents would make a lot of complaints to the school and that did not make the life of our teacher easy.
My friends were always finding ways to help me improve my memory. They started to teach me how to remember difficult vocabulary. At first, we tried to do it the hard way, which is forcing me to remember the words and testing me every day, but that didn’t work, I always ended up forgetting the words. Next, they changed their strategy to splitting the words in two, for example, similar can be split into simi and lar. As for the single words, they had me to remember them by linking the pronunciation other words with similar pronunciation. These helped me a lot and I fared kind of well in my spelling. I used to get only 3 out of 20 but I got at least a 13 now in spellings. My friends helped me in many other ways, such as inviting me for lunch in their home whenever I forgot to bring my keys and is locked out of my house. Through the meals, I found out the different type of meals eaten by people of different races, Paranee is from south India and his family ate spicy vegetables or curry with some rice but he will eat meat sometimes, but Shail is from north India and is a full vegetarian. He usually eats chapatti and vegetables. My friends made my boring life in the school more bearable and they even protected me from bullies. Shail is physically capable and always fends off bullies who were trying to hurt me.
These friends were really important. Without them, I don’t know if I can remember these difficult spelling words. I will not even know about the different culture of different races. I will also be bullied everyday if it’s not for them. I did not forget my friend until now, even though we are in different schools and we called each other often and visited each other as much as possible, because they are my true friends. Just then, the sound of doorbell woke me from my trance. I approached the door and opened it, greeted grinning faces of Paranee, Shail and Wang Jia Xing, and each of them held a card. Friendship can exist in any forms and with anyone of any skin colour, which is common in a multi racial country like Singapore.

Identity

This story is about me, a pure Singaporean, who is currently in secondary school.
We were known as the three most problematic kids in class, although we kind of topped the class often but that did not stop the teacher, who was the discipline master to send us for detention and scolding. The teacher also loves to scold Wang Jia Xin and the reason is his parents were too “kia su” which means scared of losing in Chinese dialect.  Whenever Wang Jia Xing’s academic results drops, his parents would make a lot of complaints to the school and that did not make the life of our teacher easy.

The importance of setting in the story

1) In “The Real Durwan” story is set in the stairwell. “The Adventure of the Speckled Band” is set in Watson’s house in the morning and “Pride and Prejudice” is set in the neighborhood of a town.

2) “The Real Durwan” is set in the present time. In “The Adventure of the Speckled Band” is set in 1883, early April in the morning and in “Pride and Prejudice” is set in the early 19th century England.

3)The setting of the first story tells us that the story was sad. The setting of the second story tells us that the story is going to hold us at suspense. The setting of the third story gives us a very amiable feeling and and gives us warm and loving effect.

4)The location of the setting of the To Kill A Mockingbird is in Maycomb County. In the story, Scout, also known as Jean Louise Finch, tells the story of how her brother Jem, who was older than him by 4 years, fractured his arm badly at the elbow when he was thirteen. Until today, she insists that the entire incident began with the Ewell family, the most evil and cunning family in Maycomb County, but Jem disagrees. He believes that the whole thing started way back when Dill came from Meridian, Mississippi, to spend his first summer in Maycomb with his aunt, Rachel Haverford, the Finch's neighbor. To take a broader view of things, Scout suggests that it all started when General Jackson chased the Creek Indians north and Simon Finch, their ancestor, moved up the river and built Finch's Landing. Because they couldn't decide who was right, they asked their father, Atticus, and he says that they were both right. Scout begins relating the stories of her childhood that build up to the night that Jem broke his arm.

Montgomery Bus Boycott and Scottsboro trials

On December 1, 1955, Parks took her seat in the front of the "colored section" of a Montgomery bus. When the driver asked Parks and three other black riders to relinquish their seats to whites, Parks refused (the others complied. The driver called the police, and Parks was arrested. That night she was released on a $100 bond. Her actions sparked the start of Civil Rights Movement. On the evening of December 5, several thousand protesters crowded into the Holt Street Baptist Church to create the Montgomery Improvement Association. What was planned as a day-long bus boycott swelled to 381 days when the District Court ruled declaring segregated seating on buses unconstitutional, a decision later upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Scottsboro trials
The case was first heard in Scottsboro, Alabama in three rushed trials, where the defendants received poor legal representation. All but the twelve-year-old Roy Wright were convicted of rape and all but him were sentenced to death, the common sentence in accusations of rape by white women against black men in Alabama at the time. But with help from the NAACP and the American Communist Party, the case was appealed. The Alabama Supreme Court affirmed seven of the eight convictions, and granted thirteen year old Eugene Williams a new trial because he was a juvenile. Chief Justice John C. Anderson dissented however, ruling that the defendants had been denied an impartial jury, fair trial, fair sentencing, and effective counsel.
The case was returned to the lower court and the Judge allowed a change of venue, moving the retrials to Decatur, Alabama—fifty miles from the birthplace of the Ku Klux Klan. Judge Callahan was appointed. During the retrials, one of the alleged victims admitted fabricating the rape story and asserted that none of the Scottsboro Boys ever touched either of the white women. The jury found them guilty, but the judge set aside the verdict and granted a new trial. After a new series of trials the verdict was the same: guilty. The cases were ultimately tried three times. For the third time a jury—now with one black member—returned a third guilty verdict. Charges were finally dropped for 4 of the 9 defendants. Sentences for the rest ranged from 75 years to death. All but 2 served prison sentences. One was shot in prison by a guard. Two escaped, reoffended, and were sent back to prison. Clarence Norris, the oldest defendant and the only one sentenced to death, was pardoned by George Wallace in 1976 and wrote a book about his experiences. The last surviving defendant died in 1989.
b)An important plot element concerns the father, attorney Atticus Finch, defending a black man against charges of rape. The Tom Robinson trial of "To Kill a Mockingbird" is based on the Scottsboro case. Both trials were about the blacks being misjudged of raping white woman when that did not really happen. However, the blacks it the both cases had no bad ending.
c) These trials are similar as in the fact that they earned much support from the black in the public, from most of the place. Also, the blacks who were accused of the crimes were all in the end, had their name cleared but went through a lot of trouble before they cleared it as the whites were still discriminated against the black and they tried all their best to

Trials of a true southern belle and southern gentleman

A)·        Be Humble: Others first, yourself last. Self-denial and deference to others ("After you") are the cornerstone of good manners, acting selfish or uppity is not. This commandment is indisputably rooted in the Bible Belt theology ("the first shall be last, and the last shall be first").
·         Be Courteous: Remember the Golden Rule. Go out of your way to be helpful and kind to everyone you encounter.
·         Behave Yourself: Don't be uncouth, rude, brash, loud, coarse, or cause a commotion in public. Only trashy types do such things.....and obviously this is because they weren't raised to know better.
·         Be Friendly: Put your friendliest foot forward, whether you've been properly introduced or don't know the person from a hole in the ground. Be sociable and neighborly, just like you learned in Sunday School ("Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself").
·         Be Modest: Never be highfalutin'. Practice modesty in all situations. "Why, shucks, I guess I was in the right place at the right time" would work just fine upon learning that you had won the Pulitzer Prize. "Of course I won it, I deserve to" would absolutely categorize you as too big for your britches.
·         Say "please" without fail. Please, always say "please" when you make a requet, no matter how trivial or important.
·         Always ask, never tell. The only way to make a request is to ask for it, directives are much too surly. "Would you please carry me up the road a piece?" is correct. "Give me a ride to the market" is most assuredly not.
·         Say "Thank you" without fail. Upon being granted your request--be it a personal favor or impersonal transaction--always look the other party in the eye, give them a pleasing smile, and cheerily say, "Thank you". To show them you're really grateful, dress it up with "Thank you kindly," "Thanks a whole lot," "Preciate it". If your request is denied, say "Well, thank you anyway." Using your best turn-the-other-cheek manner.
·         Say "ma'am" and "sir" without fail. If any adult your senior addresses you (or vice versa), automatically attach the appropriate title to your response ("Yes ma'am, "I reckon so, Sir", "Pardon me ma'am"). Neglecting this rule is apt to be interpreted as arrogance or insolence or just plain bad upbringing.
·         Always refer to those of the female gender as Ladies. The descriptive woman is usually reserved in Dixie for females of questionable respect. If you are a gentleman, then treat all ladies with courtness, deference, and respect you'd accord members of the royal family since, in the South, ladies occupy such status. This is an immutable rule of order in Dixie, no matter what may be happening elsewhere on this planet.
·         Chivalry may not be well appreciated outside the South today, but you can be sure that around home territory a true gentleman will so honor a lady:
·         Hold the door open for all members of the fairer sex, regardless of their social station.
·         Stand when a lady enters or leaves a room.
·         Walk on the streetside of a side-walk, when accompanying a lady.
·         Order for both of you when at a restaurant (excluding business meals).
·         Always call his mother "Mamma" or "mutha" or "Mrs. -------"-never by her first name, no matter what his age.

B) The southern ladies baked cakes to pass time.

C)

D) The gentleman is Atticus because he has all the good qualities of a gentleman and he is also very willing to help others.
Miss Maudie is the belle as she is very kind and she bakes cakes and gives them tho his neighbours instead of

Montgomery Bus Boycott and Scottsboro trails

a. Rosa Parks- Parks was ordered to enter at the back of the bus and as she was heading to the back of the bus, the bus driver drove off without her. She never wanted to to board a bus driven by James Blake after then but on December 1 1955, she was sitting in the front-most row for black people but was later asked by the bus driver to move back to create a row for the whites, only to realize that the bus driver is James Blake but she refused to move despite the fact that bus drivers are given the authority to assign seats. She was prosecuted and fined but she appealed and her arrest triggered a series of events. She was known as one of the pioneers of civil rights movement.

Claudette Colvin- She was fifteen years old when she refused to give in her seat to a white man but later was found that she was pregnant.

Scottsboro trials- On Mrach 25, 1931, a freight train was stopped in Paint Rock, a tiny community in Northern Alabama, and nine young African American men who had been riding the rails were arrested. As two white women - one underage - descended from the freight cars, they accused the men of raping them on the train. Within a month the first man was found guilty and sentenced to death. There followed a series sensational trials, condemning the other men solely on the testimony of the older woman, a known prostitute, who was attempting to avoid prosecution under the Mann Act, prohibiting taking a minor across state for lines for immoral purposes, like prostitution.

b. Both trials are related as they involved white females accusing innocent black men of raping. In TKAM, Mayella Ewell accused Tom Robinson of attempted rape when she herself seduced Tom while in the Scottsboro trials, the prostitutes accused the blacks of rape because she wanted to escape prosecution for immoral acts.

c. The trials are similar in the time they took place which is in the 1930s and they both took place in Alabama. The trial began with the charge of rape made by white women against African American men and the poor white status of the accusers was a critical issue. Both have a central figure in which a central figure of the Scottsboro trials was a heroic judge, a member of Alabama Bar who overturned a guilty jury verdict against African American men while in TKAM, the central figure is Atticus, lawyer, legislator and member of the Alabama Bar, who defends an African American man. Both judges went against public sentiments in trying to protect the rights of the African American defendants. Both jury ignored evidence that was evident that the African American men were innocent. Both also include the attitudes of the Southern women and poor whites that complicated the trials.

The civil rights movement

a) In 1950

b)The civil rights movement was a worldwide political movement for equality before the law.The civil rights movement in the United States refers partially to a set of noted events and the reform movements in that country that aimed to abolish public and private acts of racial discrimination and racism against African Americans and other disadvantaged groups between 1954 to 1968, particularly in the southern United States. It is sometimes referred to as the Second Reconstruction era.

c)Over 25 race riots occur in the summer of 1919 with 38 killed in Chicago. 70 blacks, including 10 veterans, are lynched in the South.

5000 federal troops are sent by Pres. Kennedy to allow Meredith to register for classes. Riots result in 2 deaths and hundreds of injuries.

d)President Lyndon B.

e)Due to the civil rights movement African-Americans have now equal rights as whites.

f)The novel was set in the period of the civil rights movement where the blacks were still segregated with the whites. Tom in the novel, was convicted because of the discrimination of Blacks during that era.

Harper Lee

A) Nelle Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926, to Amasa Coleman
Lee and Frances Cunningham Finch Lee. She grew up in the small
southwestern Alabama town of Monroeville. Her father who was once
a newspaper editor and proprietor later became a lawyer who also
served on the state legislature. When Harper was a child, she loved
to read and she made many friends.

In June of 1966, Harper Lee was one of two persons named by
President Johnson to the National Council of Arts.

C) She wrote the following
To Kill a Mockingbird.
Christmas to Me.
When Children Discover America.
Cold Blood.
The Long Goodbye.

D) Pulitzer Prize (1961)

E) To Kill a Mockingbird was written and published amidst the
most significant and conflict-ridden social change in the South
since the Civil War and Reconstruction. Inevitably, despite its
mid-1930s setting, the story told from the perspective of the
1950s voices the conflicts, tensions, and fears induced by this
 transition.

Jim Crow's Law

A) Jim Crow was the name of the racial caste system which operated primarily, but not exclusively in southern and border states, between 1877 and the mid-1960s. Jim Crow was more than a series of rigid anti-Black laws. It was a way of life. Under Jim Crow, African Americans were relegated to the status of second class citizens. Jim Crow represented the legitimization of anti-Black racism. Many Christian ministers and theologians taught that Whites were the Chosen people, Blacks were cursed to be servants, and God supported racial segregation.  Under Jim Crow, African Americans were relegated to the status of second class citizens.

B)Jim Crow laws made the blacks separated from the whites such as toilets, restaurants, public transports, business, no shaking of hands with the whites, no showing public affection and so on.
restroom sign

C)This type of segregation led to fierce civil rights struggles, especially in regards to Jim CrowLaws that segregated schools. Several key events – including Rosa Parks’s refusal to move from her seat on a segregated bus, as well as several bus boycotts – built up and provided enough tension in society that the question of segregation finally had to be dealt with.

D) Blacks and Whites go to different churches.

The Civil War

a)South Carolina,Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas Louisiana, irginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
b)Abraham Lincoln
c)When Abraham Lincoln was elected as president in 1860. Southerners thought the government was becoming too strong. They did not think the government had the right to tell them how they should live. Southerners felt if they stayed in the United States, the North would control them. The northern states were called the Union. President Lincoln said he would fight to keep the southern states as part of the United States. There were Union forts on Confederate land. The Confederates wanted Union soldiers to leave these forts. In Charleston, South Carolina there was a Union fort called Fort Sumter. The Union soldiers refused to leave this fort, so the Confederates fired cannons at the fort on April 12, l861. This was the beginning of the Civil War.
d)1861
e) The issue that was left out of our Constitution, that could not be resolved by peaceful consensus, was settled by the Civil War. The North won, and the seceded states were eventually reabsorbed into the Union.
f) It all started because of the Southerners were afraid that the Northerners would overpower them and this can related to the novel as it shows the relationship of the two parts of America whereby they were very cautious of each other just like in the novel where White and Black are socially different.

Slavery

a)Slavery started when the colonies were first set-up in Virginia The first batch of African slaves came to America in 1619.A Dutch slave trader exchanged his cargo of Africans for food in 1619. The Africans became indentured servants. The popular conception of a racial-based slave system did not develop until the 1680's.
b)Africa
c)The white Southerners
d)Yes.They could not gather in-groups of 4 or more because their owners thought they would plan an escape. If the slaves got caught trying to get away, their owners would beat them or cut body parts off so they could not escape again. If they got away without anyone seeing them, they usually run away to Canada where they would be free. They cannot leave their owners property without a written pass because the slave owners wanted control over the slaves. They could not own weapons because the slaves might shoot their owner. Slaves were not allowed to learn how to read or write because the slaves may start to think about freedom and try to escape.
e) Slavery was the cost of racism of White against Black as slaves were from African and they were Blacks. They were mostly owned by the Whites which result in the Whites looking down on the Blacks. The novel is about a Black who was found guilty by the White judge of something he did not do and there was clearly enough evidence to acquit him. The study of slavery definitely help me understand the novel better as it is very related to slavery. It tells me how discrimination of Blacks started.

After you my dear Alphonse

This is the story about Mrs Wilson, who has a son , Johnny and his friend, Boyd. Boyd is an African American. Mrs Wilson invited Boyd for lunch with them and through their conversation, i found out that Mrs Wilson looked down on African American and thought that their social ranking is very low and they only deserves to be doing labour jobs and cannot receive any education. Mrs Wilson commented that Boyd's father must be very strong just because of the fact that he worked in a factory, but it turned out that he is a foreman. as for Boyd's mother, she did not expect her to be at home taking care of the kids but working labour jobs such as working as a maid. she also thought that Boyd and his siblings does not deserve or afford education but it turned out that Boyd's sister was working as a teacher. i would not want to be like them because they were racist and looked down on other races. This is not acceptable as Mrs Wilson thought that African Americans are still slaves like years before.

The Little Boy And The Old Man

Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."
Said the old man, "I do that too."
The little boy whispered, "I wet my pants."
"I do that too," laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, "I often cry."
The old man nodded, "So do I."
"But worst of all," said the boy, "it seems
Grown-ups don't pay attention to me."
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
"I know what you mean," said the little old man.

This poem conveyed a sad message telling us that old people are often neglected just like young kids by adults and that adults are not doing giving enough attention to old people and children. The old man is also in his second childhood and he has the same problem as the child.

the poet used conversation and similarities in their conversation, which shows their similarity and in the end, it brings out the most important line, which is "i know what you mean."

Messy Room

Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater's been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Willie or--
Huh? You say it's mine? Oh, dear,
I knew it looked familiar!

The poem is really humorous because the author spent all his time complaining about how messy the room and blaming the mess on others, but in the end, it appeared that the room is his own and it is really humorous for this reason.

It was highlighted that humans always blames things which they have done on others without even feeling ashamed.

Clooy the clown by Shel Silverstein

I'll tell you the story of Cloony the Clown
Who worked in a circus that came through town.
His shoes were too big and his hat was too small,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
He had a trombone to play loud silly tunes,
He had a green dog and a thousand balloons.
He was floppy and sloppy and skinny and tall,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
And every time he did a trick,
Everyone felt a little sick.
And every time he told a joke,
Folks sighed as if their hearts were broke.
And every time he lost a shoe,
Everyone looked awfully blue.
And every time he stood on his head,
Everyone screamed, "Go back to bed!"
And every time he made a leap,
Everybody fell asleep.
And every time he ate his tie,
Everyone began to cry.
And Cloony could not make any money
Simply because he was not funny.
One day he said, "I'll tell this town
How it feels to be an unfunny clown."
And he told them all why he looked so sad,
And he told them all why he felt so bad.
He told of Pain and Rain and Cold,
He told of Darkness in his soul,
And after he finished his tale of woe,
Did everyone cry? Oh no, no, no,
They laughed until they shook the trees
With "Hah-Hah-Hahs" and "Hee-Hee-Hees."
They laughed with howls and yowls and shrieks,
They laughed all day, they laughed all week,
They laughed until they had a fit,
They laughed until their jackets split.
The laughter spread for miles around
To every city, every town,
Over mountains, 'cross the sea,
From Saint Tropez to Mun San Nee.
And soon the whole world rang with laughter,
Lasting till forever after,
While Cloony stood in the circus tent,
With his head drooped low and his shoulders bent.
And he said,"THAT IS NOT WHAT I MEANT -
I'M FUNNY JUST BY ACCIDENT."
And while the world laughed outside.
Cloony the Clown sat down and cried.

This poem tells me that in life, truth is often depicted as lies by others while lies are also thought to be the truth. It is a harsh reality, just as the poem says, when Cloony the clown tried to entertain other people, others did not laugh but instead commented on how badly he did, but when Cloony the clown told everyone about his life and how hard it is to be an unfunny clown, everyone laughed because they thought it was untrue.

I am also very similar to Cloony the clown, such as the occasion when i told my friends that i fractured my leg, which is the truth, and cant go to school, everyone called me a lair and said that i was just finding an excuse to skip school, however, in another occasion, when i told everyone that a friend of mine has a fat girlfriend, which was a obvious lie, everyone believed me. This shows me that humans believe in lies more easily than truth.
